Last week I finished Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare. This book is the first book in The Infernal Devices which is a trilogy linked to The Mortal Instrument series by set in Victorian London. If it is linked to the series do I read it after or before you may ask? I read it in the middle 😂 I’ve read first 3 TMI and am then reading TID and then last 3 TMI and then all the numerous side stories but yet to do with shadow hunters, I just cannot get enough!

imageIts been a good few months since I read what I have to do with this book franchise, and so this book was so nice to delve back into the shadow hunter world. I enjoy the aspect of the main character being thrown into the world, just as clary was in TMI but then again it’s kinda like reading those books, and don’t get me wrong I did enjoy the other books but yeh let me explain…

The infernal devices, so far that is, seems too similar to TMI that it’s like I’m reading the first 3 books again. But then the storyline started to intensify and it got more interesting and seemed like a whole new world I had just stumbled across. I’m glad that Tess’s nature is unknown as that gives it more chances of development rather than this person who miraculously is a shadow hunter over night, kinda like clary, let’s be real!

I love Jem and Will *sighs* BUT it does sound a little similar to how clary felt about Jace and how Jem feels about will is how Alec felt about Jace. So I hope that things get more intriguing and mysterious as relationships develop.

In Clockwork Angel it had a solid storyline that seemed to come to a satisfying end and problems resolved so I’m curious to what can be done to spread it over another two books but then Cassandra Clare is super good at making her series and world seem new yet interlocked to every book she’s written which is something quite amazing. I’m glad that I’ve not even made a dent in the mortal world of cassandras writing yet, with another 9 books or so to go?!

I give this book 4 stars as it really is a thrilling and intruiging read but at the same time fufiling to follow! 💕

Have you read this side series? What did you think?
